WHY CHOOSE AND CUT A FRESH TREE ?

Aside from the family fun of an outing in the clear, cool air of the Santa Cruz Mountains, there are more direct benefits to cutting your own Christmas Tree. A Tree purchased from a city lot was probably cut two to three months ago. By the time you get it home, the pungent Pine forest aroma is long gone and the needles will likely fall off before Christmas Day.

WHY CUT A TREE AT PATCHEN ?

At Patchen, each Tree is carefully sheared and hand cultured twice each year. The Tree has been watered and fertilized and the surroundings kept clean to prevent damage from insects. There is no need for flame retardant chemicals, water additives or gadgets to catch the needles because they will not fall off. Your Christmas Tree is FRESH and it will stay that way through the holiday season by simply keeping it in water!

PROPER CUTTING ALLOWS TREE TO LIVE FOR ANOTHER SEASON !

When the Tree is cut properly, by leaving several branches on the stump, a new Tree grows from the old stump every five to eight years.

Please leave at least FIVE BRANCHES
Each Bigger than your Fingers!

HOW ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT ?

About 30 million Trees will be cut for Christmas Trees this year. The revenue generated as a result will stimulate the planting of 85 million seedlings next spring. Christmas Trees are usually planted on soil that is unsuitable for other types of crops thus preventing soil erosion and providing scenic beauty to an otherwise barren countryside. Each acre of Christmas Trees produces enough oxygen to meet the daily requirements of 18 people. Bring a picnic lunch, stay as long as you like, help yourself to the free boughs and enjoy the ENVIRONMENT !

We hope you have a Merry Christmas!
